The City of Rockdale is very interested in promoting tourism and the lodging industry in Rockdale. Some events (or parts of an event), programs or services can receive funding from hotel occupancy taxes collected by the City. The City levies a seven percent (7%) tax rate on lodging which is less than thirty (30) days in duration.
Requests for funding from hotel occupancy tax funds must be approved by the City Council. A hotel occupancy tax application (PDF) can be downloaded and must be submitted to the City at least 60 days prior to the event and at least 7 days prior to the City Council meeting at which the item is to be considered.
If the City Council approves hotel occupancy tax funding for an event or program, a funding agreement must be signed. Once the event or program is completed, a post event report form (included in application packet) must be completed and returned to the City within 60 days after the cessation of the event.
Questions or requests for additional information should be directed to the Rockdale City Manager at 512-446-2511.
